LYBLABCs: R is for Risk

As part of my weekly LYBLABCs series — which rolls-out a core value aligned to Oprah’s Live Your Best Life philosophy found in O, the Oprah Magazine — here’s the latest virtue!

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how tough you are – life is tough! And it inevitably comes with risks – failure, heartache, loss, and trauma. Competition risks failure, and you can’t always win.

Life isn’t a straight line. Even the straightest path has tons of twisted points. Use them as lessons, and learn from your mistakes. Don’t make the same mistake over and over – that’s when it becomes part of your character.

Risk, not recklessness.

When you take even the most calculated risks, some things simply can’t be stopped from happening, so when they do, figure out how to keep them from getting out of control.

When you take a risk, and it doesn’t go the way you had planned, there’s no shame in falling down but in giving-up.
